Welcome to the ISPUT website.
As you click onto the various pages of the site there will be among others the network maps for Sydney Metropolitan, Sydney CBD, Regional and Rural lines. There are 21 suburban and 16 regional and rural line pages. Also there are pages for other transport issues such as light rail and metro rail.
So sit back, relax and take the time to go through the site and forward supporting or dissenting comments via the links.
Since 1855, New South Wales has had a Network of Railway lines. In 1855, there were no motor cars and our population was a lot smaller than that of today. As time evolved, the Railway grew and electricity replaced steam trains.
As Railway lines were built, new towns and suburbs sprang up. The same applied when the Tramway network was built.
What has happened since? New towns and suburbs have been established, however the Tramway network was closed and the Railway network has not expanded to keep pace with the growth in population.
Motor car ownership is now universal. Although not perfect, the road network has expanded gradually.
Where will our transport network be place in thirty years' time if we continue to take short cuts? Who will ultimately suffer? The answer lies somewhere between the Taxpayer who has no access to a Railway line, and the commuters who use a system that has seen only the Eastern Suburbs line ,East Hills Extension , Epping to Chatswood line and the Airport line opened since 1979.
If only one new Railway line was planned by ISPUT would that achieve any real answers? Does that same thought process apply to building one new Metro Rail line every fifteen years?
Shouldn't New South Wales be building three new lines at the same time so that in thirty years our existing Rail network is able to handle the challenges of the day? Where will we be if only one new Railway line is completed over the next thirty years?
The Railway lines were built to serve New South Wales. What plans are in place to upgrade our Rural and Regional Railway lines? Will Metro Rail go to the regions or rural New South Wales?
The ISPUT website is concerned for what is happening to our Railways not just in Metropolitan Sydney but throughout Regional and Rural New South Wales. All people from across New South Wales should become involved in the future of our existing Railway lines and how we can achieve the necessary expansion that is so badly needed.
If you have similar concerns about the need to expand your Railway lines or Tramway lines throughout other parts of Australia please log onto the site and JOIN THE CAMPAIGN. Your voice will not go unheard.
Finally, Join the Campaign as these plans are not the domain of one person, but the future needs of our great city and State.
After all these are YOUR RAILWAYS: OUR FUTURE
